A few users have asked us why we require you to register for an account and sign in to use Local Shops.

Local Shops is a free application that enables you to search for, find information about, and follow local businesses and landmarks of interest to you. You can view photos and featured products, and also find special offers/coupons from merchants. One of the most powerful features of Local Shops is that you can bookmark the local businesses that you find, and you can also save special offers and featured products posted by those merchants. This feature lets you get back to these bookmarks and saved items quickly, so that you can access them when you need them. (For example, if you want to redeem a special offer with a merchant!) However, in order for this feature to operate, you must register an account and sign in so that Local Shops can remember your saved items for you.
